Anybody that knows me is well aware of the problems I have with migraines. I've never been able to connect them to any food, drink, or event, other than overcast days. I take Relpax, which works great, but I only get 6 a month, and in the fall, I tend to run out of Relpax and I have to suffer with migraines for a few days before I can get the prescription refilled.
I've toyed with the idea of going to a chiropractor for the past couple of years because everybody that I know who goes to a chiropractor swears by them...especially for migraines. I've never really believed much in that particular field of medicine, but I finally decided to give it a shot. I made an appointment with a chiro that my friend, Elizabeth goes to and recommends highly.
My first appointment was a week and a half ago, and it consisted of discussing my symptoms in depth, x-rays, e-stem, and traction (which I didn't love). I went back a few days later to discuss my x-rays, and discuss treatment, and I had my first adjustment. The adjustment was not at all what I had expected - mainly the neck. But the chiro assures me he can stop the migraines.
I had 3 adjustments last week, and I don't know if it's too soon for the treatments to be helping, but I've had some interesting results already. Both yesterday and today, I felt a migraine starting, and I have 1 Relpax left to last until Dec. 2, so I tried Excedrin Migraine (which has never even begun to work before), and both times, the headache went away. Progress or coincidence? Can't wait to see how things transpire from here. I'm hopeful that this is the beginning of migraine relief.
I have appointments every day next week, and one day I even get a massage, which I'm very excited about. I'm very hopeful about this. I've never dared let myself imagine life without migraines, but it sure would be nice.
