Last night I bought myself the ultimate 40th birthday present. It isn't a birthday present that most people would want, but I do. I am ridiculously excited about it and I realize that fact will make many people laugh at me. But I don't care.
When I was a teenager, I loved 80's music. I loved watching videos and listening to 97 Rock and 101 KLOL in Houston. One night, while watching videos, I saw this one:
Night Ranger - (You Can Still) Rock In America by UniversalMusicGroup
Now all of these years later, I can see that it's not a great video, but it was the song that caught my attention. And Jack Blades. I thought he was pretty hot.
My friend, Valerie, and I were lucky enough to meet Brad Gillis, one of the guitarists, at an auction sponsored by 101, but I was never able to meet Jack Blades.
Until now.
On September 24, 2 days before my 40th birthday, I shall meet Jack Blades. And my friend, Valerie, along with Kelly, Shelley, and Karen will be with me. It took me 25 years, but I will finally meet Jack Blades face to face. Granted, both of our faces are considerably older than they were 25 years ago, but still...I will meet him. And it will be glorious.
So go ahead - laugh if you wish. It doesn't bother me. I'm so excited about my 40th birthday present that I can hardly stand it! And I'm very excited about hanging with my girls again. It is so appropriate and perfect that they will be with me.
