Okay, we've already been there, but the famous quote from American Idol kept crossing my mind. I actually tried to write this blog post a couple of days ago, but, oddly enough, at our hotel in Hollywood, I didn't have a good internet connection - or a good cell phone signal. Seemed kind of odd to me that in Hollywood, CA, I couldn't get good cell phone service or a good internet connection. So I'm posting it a couple of days later from Irvine.
Although Hollywood represents excess like I can't even imagine, and I despise that about it, it's still a really neat place to visit. As we were walking down the Walk of Fame I kept seeing names like Jim Henson, Bob Hope, and many others whose work I can't help but be impressed with. There really have been some talented people in Hollywood. We saw Mann's Chinese Theater, the Kodak theater, Pantages, the Capitol Records building, and the Hollywood sign, to name a few places of interest. Any red-blooded American would be impressed by the history each of these things encompasses. And for me the best and most amazing talent to ever come out of Hollywood was Lucille Ball. She was truly incredible and I enjoyed getting to see her stars on the Walk of Fame.
Even though we had a lot of fun with the sights of traditional Hollywood, Brendan and I found another way to entertain ourselves. Since the last Harry Potter movie comes out next week, there are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 signs all over the place. So we started getting our picture taken every time we saw a sign...even if it was the same picture. We also bought our tickets to see the movie at 12:01 AM on Friday. I'm definitely looking forward to that!
